A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has assured that former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, will work with other stakeholders to ensure the emergence of the best candidate for the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, said Akande, Oyetola, and the state APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, have the required experience to guarantee a credible process in line with party guidelines.
According to him, although no fewer than 10 aspirants have so far indicated interest in flying the APC flag, the leadership will ensure that only the most credible and popular aspirant emerges to return the party to power.
“All our aspirants are capable of contesting and winning, but the reality is that only one person will become the candidate.
“The number of aspirants will not pose a problem because Chief Bisi Akande, our national leader, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and the state chairman, working with other stakeholders, will ensure the emergence of the best man,” he said.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, appealed to all aspirants to support whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer, stressing that unity was crucial for victory in 2026.
He expressed optimism that the APC would reclaim power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the people’s yearning for APC’s return to government.
He also commended Akande, Oyetola, and Lawal for their efforts in keeping the party united and for attracting political heavyweights from the ruling party into the APC.
“With the right candidate and unity of purpose, the APC will win the 2026 election with a wide margin,” Oyintiloye said.
