Nigerian musician Timi Dakolo has announced plans to assist parents struggling to pay their children’s school fees as the 2025/2026 academic session resumes.
In a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, Dakolo acknowledged the heavy financial pressure school resumption places on families and pledged to ease the burden for some parents.
He urged parents and guardians to send copies of their children’s school bills to the Instagram account @TheOyindaOlu, noting that payments would be made directly to schools. Receipts, he added, would be shared with parents as proof of payment.
“I know how difficult this period can be for families,” Dakolo wrote, stressing his desire to reduce parents’ stress during one of the most demanding times of the year. His gesture quickly drew praise online, with many followers hailing the initiative.
The announcement comes amid rising education costs across Nigeria, with families lamenting steep increases in tuition, levies, books, and uniforms. For many households, school reopening has become a season of financial strain despite the excitement of children returning to classrooms.
Dakolo, known for music that highlights family values and social themes, has often spoken on issues affecting education and welfare. His latest move reflects a broader trend of public figures offering direct support to Nigerians during periods of economic hardship.
