Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has stirred online reactions after a video showed her greeting former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), in New York.
In the clip, shared by ex-presidential aide Bashir Ahmad, Savage is seen slightly bowing in line with Yoruba tradition as she exchanged pleasantries with Osinbajo. Ahmad captioned it: “Culture is a thing of pride in this part of the world.”
The gesture sparked admiration from many Nigerians who hailed the singer for displaying cultural values on a global stage. Social media users described her action as a mark of respect and an affirmation of Yoruba upbringing.
The encounter has since fueled wider conversations about preserving cultural traditions and honoring elders, even in international settings.
