The death of comedian and content creator Adetola Samad, popularly known as Sanku, in a September 2 car crash along Ogbomoso Road, Oyo State, has sparked controversy over an unsettled auto loan.
Fellow comedian Folorunsho Olayinka (Finest), who stood as guarantor for Sanku in the purchase of a 2012 Lexus RX 350 worth ₦25.4 million, said the late skitmaker had paid ₦12.28 million, leaving over ₦13 million outstanding.
He denied online allegations linking him to Sanku’s death, insisting he only facilitated the deal through Ilorin-based JJ Motors Empire.
But another associate claimed Sanku was under pressure to return the Lexus and switch to a cheaper Toyota Venza, alleging the unpaid balance was closer to ₦2.3 million.
A WhatsApp voice note attributed to Sanku suggested he felt coerced into returning the SUV without being offered a replacement.
Sanku had unveiled the Lexus in June on TikTok, expressing gratitude to Finest.
His death was later confirmed by actor Yemi Elesho, prompting widespread mourning across Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
