The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has foiled an attempt to smuggle illicit drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the Service, security personnel intercepted a man, Njimogu Ikedi, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, while he was trying to sneak psychoactive substances into the facility.

A routine search uncovered cannabis sativa and other drugs concealed in his clothing.

The Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Mr. Christopher Jen, ordered Ikedi’s arrest and immediate handover to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), for investigation and prosecution.

The NCoS said the interception underscores its commitment to maintaining a secure, drug-free environment within custodial centres.

It warned that smugglers would be caught and prosecuted, while assuring the public of its vigilance in safeguarding correctional facilities.
