Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Kyari, who had been on the commission’s watchlist, arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Sources confirmed that he is being interrogated over funds allocated for refinery maintenance during his tenure.
“Yes, he’s in our office. He will be ushered into where he will face interrogation by the crack detectives of the commission,” an insider told reporters.
Earlier, a Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered the freezing of all bank accounts linked to Kyari at the request of the EFCC.
