French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have completed the signing of 16-year-old Danish-born Nigerian striker, Ekene Chukwuani, from Brøndby IF.
Chukwuani, born on January 7, 2009, in Hvidovre, Denmark, to Nigerian parents, will join Monaco’s Academy on a three-year deal worth about €2 million (15 million DKK).
The move marks the first time Brøndby’s Masterclass academy has sold a player directly to a top-tier European club.
“This transfer is a testament to the fantastic work being done at Masterclass with our young talents,” Brøndby officials said.
The highly-rated forward has already attracted attention across Europe, and Monaco is expected to provide him with a strong platform to further his development and career in French football.
