The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has suspended its planned two-day strike after reaching an agreement with the Dangote Group to unionise its drivers.

NUPENG President, Williams Akporeha, confirmed the decision on Tuesday, saying the agreement was signed following a meeting convened by the Department of State Services (DSS). The Dangote team was led by Sayyu Dantata.

“We have suspended the strike. The Dangote refinery has agreed to unionise its drivers. We signed an agreement,” Akporeha told our correspondent.

The dispute had earlier led to tanker drivers refusing to load fuel on Monday despite an appeal from the Federal Government, sparking fears of supply disruption.
