A Deputy Superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Sunday accidentally shot and killed his colleague, DSC Adekunle Emmanuel, in the Life Camp area of Abuja.
The incident, disclosed by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on his X handle Monday, occurred around 10:20 a.m. while the officers were en route from Corner View Hotel to a principal’s residence at Lias Estate.
Security sources said Emmanuel was hit in the left upper arm by his colleague’s rifle.
He was rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. His body has been deposited in the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The officer responsible for the accidental discharge has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
