The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has lauded the Catholic Women Organization of Abuja Archdiocese (CWOAA), for its contributions to evangelization, charitable works, and the promotion of unity within the Church.
The Archbishop gave the commendation after a briefing from CWOAA President, Mrs. Lilian Ebele Okoye, and her executives.
He praised the women for their borehole projects, hospital and home visitations, and vibrant evangelization efforts, noting that their activities have been free of internal crises since their election.
Describing the group as “a pivotal pillar” of the Church and society, Kaigama urged members to remain steadfast in service to God, assuring them of divine reward.
He also stressed the need for harmony between priests and lay organizations, warning clergy against dissolving or suspending associations without dialogue.
“Priests must not act unilaterally,” he said. “There should always be dialogue, with constitutions respected as legal Church documents.”
The Archbishop called for stronger collaboration between priests and groups like the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Catholic Men Organization (CMO), and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), which he said are vital for pastoral growth.
Mrs. Okoye, in her response, thanked the Archbishop for his support and for appointing chaplains to the CWOAA, which she said has strengthened their activities spiritually and socially.
She pledged the women’s continued commitment to evangelization, charity, and unity.
