The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has said that the virtues embodied by Prophet Muhammad such as humility, compassion, justice, and devotion to God, go beyond religious boundaries and serve as guiding values for building a just and peaceful society.
In a statement marking Eid-ul-Maulud, signed by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN congratulated Muslims across the country and urged Nigerians to reflect on the Prophet’s exemplary life.
Okoh noted that the occasion comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with governance challenges and economic hardship, stressing the need for leaders at all levels to embrace justice, fairness, and accountability.
“Eid-ul-Maulud offers all Nigerians a moment of reflection. We urge political leaders to ease the burdens on citizens and adopt policies that promote unity, peace, and dignity for every Nigerian,” the statement read.
CAN expressed hope that the celebration would inspire stronger interfaith bonds and rekindle collective efforts toward national progress.
“May this Eid-ul-Maulud renew our shared hope for Nigeria and encourage us all to work together for a just and prosperous nation,” Okoh added.
