Tension has gripped residents of Kilankwa village in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after suspected thieves stabbed a commercial cyclist, Lawal Ibrahim, to death and made away with his motorcycle.
Eyewitnesses said Ibrahim had picked up two passengers from Kwali market en route to Kilankwa when one of them pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck.
The cyclist reportedly lost control and fell before the assailants fled with his motorcycle.
Villagers returning from their farms later found him in a pool of blood and alerted local vigilantes, who rushed him to a hospital in Dabi.
He, however, died shortly after arrival, and his remains were released to his relatives for burial.
A vigilante member, Lazarus Isaac, confirmed that the victim was rescued alive but could not survive the injuries.
A police source at the Kwali division also confirmed the incident.
