Veteran actress Joke Silva has announced the death of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, aged 72.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, August 29, 2025, Silva wrote: “With acceptance of God’s sovereign will, we announce the call to glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva, my easy-go-lucky brother. Rest in peace.”
Fondly called “Long John Silva” and “Uncle B” by family and friends, the deceased lived a private life away from the public eye.
His passing, however, has drawn an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues of the celebrated actress.
The loss comes as Silva continues to support her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, in his ongoing battle with dementia, underscoring her strength in the face of personal trials.
