A 35-year-old hotel receptionist, Adesanya Adure, has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing $380,000 from a guest.
Prosecutor Samuel Emmanuel told the court that the complainant, Ohakwe Ebere, reported the case at Utako Police Station on September 2. He alleged that Adure, who works at the Mountain of Fire Hostel, unlawfully changed the guest’s room on September 1, after which the money, reportedly hidden under the bed-went missing.
Adure pleaded not guilty to the charge, which contravenes Section 287 of the Penal Code.
Chief Magistrate Farida Ibrahim granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one reliable surety resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
The case has been adjourned as investigations continue.
