The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has revoked all park licences in Abuja and directed operators to resubmit their documentation for fresh screening and possible reallocation.

Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, disclosed this while briefing journalists, explaining that the decision followed a memo from the Directors of Parks and Recreation and Lands after several operators were found violating policy guidelines.

He said the move was necessary to restore order and ensure full compliance with the FCT’s urban land-use policy.

As part of its enforcement drive, the FCTA recently demolished Boulevard Park in Maitama for deviating from its approved recreational purpose. Galadima stressed that the action was not a witch-hunt but a corrective measure.

“All operators are expected to resubmit their documents to the Parks and Recreation Department for evaluation.

“Only those who meet the stipulated terms and conditions will have their allocations reinstated,” he said.

Galadima explained that park developers were initially required to submit conceptual designs for approval before commencing operations, but weak monitoring had led to widespread abuse.

To address this, he said, the Administration has set up a ministerial committee to review all allocations and enforce strict adherence to approved recreational purposes.
