The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared Prince Christopher Enweremadu, former Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, wanted over alleged involvement in a ₦2 billion fraud.

In a statement issued by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency described Enweremadu as a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, and money laundering.

The notice listed his last known address as the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Umuahia.

The development follows a December 2024 order by a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, which directed the EFCC to probe allocations to Abia’s 17 local government areas between 2019 and 2023.

The court also ordered the seizure of the international passports of Enweremadu and two other former state officials.

Enweremadu, who served under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has faced persistent scrutiny over alleged mismanagement of council funds.

The EFCC has urged members of the public with information on his whereabouts to report to any of its zonal offices nationwide.
