Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has appointed Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer as the new Head of the State Civil Service.
The appointment was announced in a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, on Tuesday in Yenagoa.
Dr. Sawyer, who until now was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, succeeds Mrs. Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, who retired on August 31.
Born on May 14, 1970, in Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Sawyer joined the state civil service in 1998 as a medical officer.
He earned his MBBS degree from the University of Port Harcourt in 1996, a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Lagos in 2000, and a Fellowship in Public Health from the National Post-Graduate Medical College in 2010.
He has completed his dissertation for a PhD in Clinical Sciences and Public Health at the Niger Delta University and is a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
