The Court of Appeal has affirmed Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi as the duly elected President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), dismissing the suit filed by Arch. Kabir Ibrahim and his dissolved executives for lack of merit.
Reacting to the July 17 ruling, AFAN’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Admiral Murtala Nyako (Rtd), hailed the judgment as “a victory for Nigerian farmers” after more than four years of legal battle.
He urged stakeholders to rally behind Mudi to champion reforms aimed at tackling hunger, poverty, and destitution.
In his remarks, Dr. Mudi declared, “The storm is over. AFAN will do everything possible to crash commodity prices, provide subsidised inputs, create jobs, and reduce unemployment by at least 30 percent within the next twelve months.”
He further outlined plans for reforms including full mechanisation of farming, improved access to loans for genuine farmers, and collaboration with stakeholders to address high fertiliser costs and insecurity threatening food production nationwide.
