The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State during the 2023 elections, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of political harassment after his property in Ode Remo was served a N72 million Land Use and Amenities Charge notice.
In a statement by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, Adebutu described the enforcement as “contemptuous of the judiciary,” noting that the matter is already the subject of two pending cases before the High Court of Sagamu.
He alleged that the Ministry of Finance acted illegally by pasting the notice without due process and accused the Abiodun administration of “weaponising government agencies against perceived opponents.”
The PDP chieftain urged Ogun residents to “see through the intimidation” and resist what he called an attempt to silence opposition voices.
His claims follow similar allegations recently made by former governor Gbenga Daniel.
In response, Governor Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, dismissed Adebutu’s claims as “political noise,” insisting that the Land Use Charge is a statutory levy applicable to all property owners.
“This is not about politics,” Akinmade said. “Every state collects Land Use Charge. Those who disagree with their assessment should approach the Ministry of Finance rather than politicise the issue.”
