The Young Progressives Party (YPP), chairmanship candidate for Abaji Area Council in the 2026 elections, Alhaji Mohammed Angulu Loko, has pledged not to interfere in the affairs of traditional rulers if elected.
Speaking on Saturday in Gawu ward during a meeting with traditional rulers, village chiefs, and district heads, Loko assured them of full autonomy to operate in line with their customs, describing the traditional institution as “revered and deserving of respect.”
He recalled that during his first tenure as Abaji chairman between 2003 and 2006, his administration increased the monthly stipends of traditional rulers by 70%, a gesture he said underscored his commitment to their welfare.
