Liverpool edged Arsenal 1-0 in a tense Premier League showdown at Anfield on Sunday, thanks to a stunning late strike from Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Hungarian midfielder broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, unleashing a powerful free-kick from distance that sailed past goalkeeper David Raya, securing a crucial victory for Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool had earlier thought they had taken the lead when Hugo Ekitike found the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Despite controlling spells of the game, Arsenal, hampered by injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz struggled to create clear chances in attack.
The Gunners’ evening took an early blow when defender William Saliba limped off after just four minutes, forcing Mikel Arteta to reshuffle his defensive setup.
Though Arsenal enjoyed periods of possession, they rarely troubled Liverpool’s backline.
With both teams cancelling each other out for much of the contest, Szoboszlai’s moment of brilliance proved decisive, extending Liverpool’s impressive home form and tightening their grip near the top of the table, while Arsenal left empty-handed and under added pressure in their title chase.
