President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian engineer Olayinka Babalola on his historic election as the 2026/2027 President of Rotary International.

Babalola, of the Rotary Club of Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, becomes only the second Nigerian and African to lead the 120-year-old global humanitarian organization.

He was elected by the Rotary International Board of Directors and will assume office on July 1, 2026.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Babalola’s election as a reward for his years of selfless service and commitment to humanitarian causes.

“His elevation is a testament to his relentless pursuit of projects that have positively impacted lives,” the President said.

Tinubu expressed confidence that Babalola’s achievement would inspire millions of Nigerians, particularly the younger generation, and assured him of government support during his tenure.

He wished him a successful term and renewed strength in his service to humanity.
