The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has urged civil society organisations (CSOs), and government agencies in Kogi State to partner with it in sensitising citizens on government policies, programmes, and security awareness.
The North Central Zonal Director of NOA, Dr. Priscilla Gondoalour, made the call on Friday during a meeting with the Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET), in Lokoja.
She noted that CSOs play a crucial role in national development and stressed the need for them to support efforts at promoting security consciousness, particularly in the North Central region, which has been badly affected by insecurity.
Responding, the Chairman of KONGONET, Hamza Aliyu, commended NOA’s recognition of CSOs as key partners in nation-building and pledged the network’s commitment to effective collaboration.
Earlier, the State Director of NOA, Mr. Patrick Edogbonya, said the visit of the zonal director was aimed at strengthening partnerships with non-governmental organisations to drive national progress.
In a related engagement, Dr. Gondoalour also met with the Association of Heads of Federal Establishments (AHFE), in Kogi, where she encouraged ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), to adopt stronger awareness strategies to keep the public informed about government activities.
She emphasised that effective sensitisation requires robust partnerships with NOA, particularly in promoting security consciousness among Nigerians.
Chairman of AHFE, Mr. Gabriel Audu, assured of the association’s readiness to collaborate with NOA, applauding the agency’s effort in highlighting security tips, which he described as “everyone’s responsibility.”
The zonal director’s visit to Kogi formed part of ongoing efforts to rally stakeholder support for Federal Government initiatives and programmes.
