The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stressed the need for innovative and collaborative security approaches to safeguard Abuja and neighboring states.

Speaking through the FCT Head of Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, at the G-7 Technical Committee meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, Wike underscored the importance of synergy and cooperation in addressing security threats.

The G-7 Security Forum, established in 2007, brings together security chiefs from the FCT and six neighboring states: Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, and Plateau to share intelligence, review security trends, and adopt joint strategies.

Wike urged members of the committee to maximize collaboration and strategic planning, commending security operatives for their sacrifices and reaffirming his administration’s commitment to providing resources and platforms to strengthen regional security cooperation.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, AIG Usaini Gumel highlighted the successes of collaborative security initiatives, while the FCT Commissioner of Police and Chairman of the G-7 Technical Committee, CP Ajao Adewale, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing.

Also speaking, Brigadier General Bisi Onasanya, FCT Garrison Commandant, stressed the connection between security and economic growth, warning against complacency and urging actionable strategies to ensure the safety of citizens.

The committee is expected to identify vulnerable areas, develop operational strategies, and recommend decisive measures to strengthen security and stability across the FCT and surrounding states.
