A violent clash in Owode Onirin, Kosofe LGA, Lagos, left three people dead and several injured, including a policeman, after armed men allegedly working for Abiodun Ariori tried to evict traders and mechanics by force.

Eyewitnesses said traders resisted, leading to a deadly shootout and road blockages before police restored order.

Police confirmed that efforts to arrest Ariori, CEO of Prosperous Ariori Golden Venture Ltd, have so far failed.

Four policemen allegedly brought in by the suspect from outside Lagos were detained for illegal duty.

In a separate incident at Balogun Market, Lagos Island, one man, Sodiq Ibrahim from Kogi, was killed after a dispute over transaction proceeds with a colleague, Ebuka Adindu from Abia, turned violent.

Ebuka also injured himself and was arrested in hospital.

Police dismissed reports of tribal clashes, describing both incidents as “free-for-all confrontations between miscreants.” Normalcy has been restored, and investigations are ongoing.
