The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed condolences to the government and people of Vietnam following the devastation caused by Typhoon Kajiki.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa said Nigeria sympathises with victims’ families and commended the efforts of emergency responders.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria extends its deepest condolences and heartfelt solidarity to the government and people of Vietnam, especially to families who have lost loved ones and those whose homes and livelihoods were destroyed by Typhoon Kajiki,” the statement read.
According to media reports, the typhoon has claimed three lives, injured 13 people, and damaged nearly 7,000 homes.
Flooding and power outages have also affected central and northern regions, including Hanoi.
Nigeria lauded the swift response of Vietnamese authorities in evacuating communities and providing relief, expressing confidence in the resilience of the Vietnamese people to recover from the disaster.
