Air Peace has announced plans to begin direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil in the last quarter of 2025, just days after the two countries signed a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA).
The new route will cut travel time from 17 hours to about seven, ending years of limited connectivity since the closure of Nigeria Airways and Brazil’s VARIG in the mid-2000s.
Air Peace Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, confirmed the development at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, after returning from Brazil.
He described the direct link as a “game-changer” and revealed plans to expand services across South America, including discussions with Colombia’s Vice President on September 1.
Onyema said the flights would boost business, tourism, cultural exchange, and technology transfer, while maintaining the same high-quality service and affordable fares offered on the Lagos-London route.
He also announced that the airline’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), facility, built in partnership with Embraer, will be inaugurated on September 17, 2025, and completed within 15 months.
Onyema praised President Bola Tinubu for supporting Nigerian entrepreneurs, noting that such initiatives would create more jobs.
