The Federal Government has unveiled two new digital platforms aimed at combating housing fraud and improving transparency in project delivery.
The first, a Housing Fraud Reporting Portal (https://reports.fmhud.gov.ng), will enable Nigerians to report fraudulent practices in housing estates, upload evidence, and track the status of their complaints.
The platform was launched on Tuesday by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
According to the Ministry, complaints submitted through the portal will be reviewed in collaboration with professional bodies, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary, with offenders facing legal sanctions.
Technical demonstrations were carried out by consultants, Messrs Freestone Investments Limited and Prunedge Development Technologies Limited, who jointly designed the platform.
The second initiative, the Contract Performance and Compliance Project Monitoring System, will allow real-time tracking of housing project progress, assess contractors’ performance, and serve as a central repository for key project documents, payment certificates, and Bills of Quantities.
Housing Minister, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, said the innovations align with the 2012 National Housing Policy, which emphasizes stricter regulation of the sector, certification of developers, and stronger protection for citizens against fraudulent actors.
Deputy Director and Head of ICT at the Ministry, Dr. Marcus Amiolemen, noted that the fraud portal was developed in partnership with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ensure effective case tracking.
He added that both platforms reflect the Ministry’s commitment to citizen protection, accountability, and improved service delivery in Nigeria’s housing sector.
