Chelsea are pressing for compensation from Liverpool over the transfer of Rio Ngumoha, with the Premier League expected to step in as the youngster continues to shine at Anfield.
The 16-year-old striker made headlines on Monday when he became the fourth-youngest scorer in Premier League history, netting a dramatic 100th-minute winner in Liverpool’s 2–1 victory over Newcastle.
Ngumoha, who left Chelsea for Liverpool last year in a controversial switch, has been touted as a generational talent by the London club.
A tribunal was scheduled to determine a fee for the transfer, but nearly a year later, no decision has been reached.
Chelsea believe Ngumoha’s breakout performance against Newcastle strengthens their case for significant compensation, as the teenager continues to justify his billing as one of England’s brightest prospects.
