National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu on Monday oversaw the reunion of 128 kidnap victims with their families in Abuja.
The individuals, rescued by security forces from Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State, were handed over at a ceremony held at the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the NSA (NCTC-ONSA).
Ribadu dismissed reports claiming that more than 30 of the victims had been killed, affirming that all were rescued alive.
He emphasized that the government’s efforts extend beyond securing the victims’ safety to providing trauma care and support for their reintegration into families and communities.
The NSA lauded the bravery, sacrifice, and professionalism of the armed forces, police, intelligence services, and other agencies involved in the operation.
He highlighted that the government had recently reunited several hostages, stressing that each successful rescue represents both a victory for the Nigerian people and a setback for terrorist networks.
Ribadu further warned that those terrorizing citizens would find no safe haven. “We will continue to employ both military and non-military measures to tackle insecurity.
“Perpetrators will be hunted down, brought to justice, or face the same fate as neutralized kingpins,” he declared.
