Supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday marched through the streets of Abuja, demanding his return to frontline politics.
The demonstrators stormed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), national headquarters, where the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting was underway, chanting solidarity songs and waving placards with inscriptions such as “Goodluck, come back and save Nigeria.”
Advocates of Jonathan’s return argue that he has the capacity to address the country’s worsening challenges. Within the PDP, some stakeholders are reportedly lobbying him to contest the 2027 presidential election under the party’s platform.
Jonathan, however, has remained silent and is yet to make any public statement on the calls for his political comeback.
