The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, has announced the recruitment of 785 staff members into Grade Levels 8 to 12 as part of efforts to strengthen the legislature.
Speaking at the induction ceremony in Abuja on Monday, Ogunlana, represented by Deputy Clerk Engr. Bashir Yero said the employment drive was possible because Nigeria’s democracy has remained stable for 26 years without military threats.
He described it as “a most auspicious time” to join the service, urging the new staff to uphold professionalism, loyalty, discipline, and digital competence.
“Working in the National Assembly is a calling that requires much more than academic qualifications.
“It demands knowledge of legislative practice, high moral standards, and strong personal discipline,” he said.
Ogunlana assured them of prompt salaries and welfare, noting that their first 28 days allowance had already been paid.
He added that the National Assembly remains the symbol of Nigeria’s democracy and that by serving, they are helping consolidate governance.
He further recalled that management recently reassured over 3,000 legislative aides of job security and improved remuneration as part of ongoing workforce reforms.
