Passenger train heading to Kaduna from Abuja derailed at Asham along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor today, Tuesday, August 26, 2025. The train reportedly left Abuja at 9:45 am.
The derailment occurred at Asham along the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor.
The passengers scrambled for safety amid panic but no casualties have been confirmed as of press time .
Military personnel have been deployed to assist in evacuating stranded passengers.
The exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation. The incident comes barely a week after a hot axle incident was reported on the same route .
