The Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, has commended the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, for their commitment to women’s empowerment in the state.
She gave the commendation in Akure during the distribution of economic empowerment tools to 500 women drawn from the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
The intervention, under the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), in partnership with the Office of the SSA on SDGs, included donations of deep freezers, grinding machines, and gas cookers.
Dr. Osamaye described the scheme as transformative, noting its role in reducing poverty, boosting women’s economic independence, and strengthening family and community development.
She also praised Mrs. Orelope-Adefulire for facilitating the SDGs empowerment programme in the state, assuring that the distributed items would be closely monitored for proper utilization and sustainability.
Represented by the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, Senator Tinubu stressed that empowering women is key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the tools responsibly to establish viable businesses.
Mrs. Orelope-Adefulire, in her remarks, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to women’s development and pledged more empowerment programmes for Ondo State.
