The Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Halilu, says Nigeria has achieved historic gains in technology transfer under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking during Tinubu’s meeting with Nigerians in Japan at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Halilu revealed that the agency received over 1,000 applications from global firms within a year.

He added that the President’s accelerated Technology Transfer Programme has already attracted $2 billion in commitments, with applications now streamlined via an online platform.

“We have moved from being a research and development agency with only prototypes to an implementing agency with 40 market-ready products,” Halilu said.

He highlighted ongoing projects, including a deal with a Japanese nanotechnology company to build four factories in Nigeria, a 40-hectare renewable industrial park, and an electric vehicle assembly plant.

Halilu credited the progress to Tinubu’s policies, which have opened Nigeria’s doors to foreign investors and the diaspora, assuring that the country will continue providing an enabling environment for technology transfer and industrial growth.
