The leadership crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bwari Area Council, FCT, has deepened following conflicting suspensions involving the party chairman and secretary.
Embattled chairman, Aliyu Tanko Shere, rejected his suspension announced by council executives, arguing that the cited constitutional provisions – Articles 21.6, 21.7, 21.10, and 21.11 – “do not exist in the APC constitution.”
He insisted he remains the authentic chairman and dismissed allegations of high-handedness, bias in the June 25 chairmanship primary, and unilateral decision-making.
In a counter move, APC executives at Kuduru Ward expelled council secretary, Shuaibu Musa Rade, in a letter dated August 20, 2026, signed by ward chairman Dikko Fazawoyi and 25 other excos.
The letter was copied to Shere and the FCT APC chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman.
Rade, however, dismissed the action as politically motivated, claiming he committed no offence to warrant expulsion.
He alleged that stakeholders angered by Shere’s suspension engineered his removal.
The development has heightened tension in the Bwari APC chapter, with party faithful divided over the leadership tussle.
