Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has resumed infrastructure development at the Abuja Centenary City, officially restarting construction work after an 11-year hiatus.

The move follows the signing of the contract for Phase One of the project’s primary infrastructure.

Launched in 2014, the Abuja Centenary City is envisioned as a premium lifestyle and investment hub featuring five-star hotels, luxury residences, a commerce centre, the Centenary International Convention Centre, the Mall of Africa, and a championship golf course.

At the contract signing, Managing Director of Abuja Centenary City, Dr. Odenigwe Ike Michaels, said Julius Berger was selected for its proven record of excellence.

He urged the company to surpass expectations, describing the project as Abuja’s flagship urban renewal initiative designed to attract global investment.

Julius Berger’s Managing Director, Dr. Peer Lubasch, described the Centenary City as “more than just an urban project,” but a driver of jobs, international business, and modern living in the FCT.

He noted the firm’s involvement since the project’s conception in 2014 and reiterated their commitment to its success.

The newly signed contract covers the construction of a 4.31-kilometre international-standard dual carriageway with integrated utilities.

Lubasch explained that the road would serve as the first major artery of the development, unlocking access to its initial phase and laying the groundwork for future expansion.

He further reaffirmed Julius Berger’s track record of delivering durable infrastructure across Nigeria and pledged that the Centenary City would meet world-class standards.
