Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have restated their commitment to the party’s elective National Convention scheduled for November 15-16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Rising from a meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, on Saturday, the governors emphasized their support for the Ambassador Umar Damagum-led leadership and the resolutions of the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting held in July 2025, which approved the convention.

Their declaration comes amid opposition from former Rivers State Governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who questioned the legitimacy of the NEC meeting and expressed unfamiliarity with the planned convention.

Wike has also insisted that the South-South Congress conducted by his allies, which produced Dan Orbih, must be recognized, warning of possible unrest if ignored.

The PDP governors, however, dismissed attempts to derail the process, commending party members and supporters for their loyalty and resilience despite alleged intimidation and undemocratic practices by the APC-led Federal Government during recent by-elections.

By reaffirming their stand, the governors signaled their determination to strengthen party unity and advance its agenda, despite internal disagreements.
