Liberia’s National Deaf Football Team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Togo on Friday, climbing to the top of Group B at the ongoing 13th West Africa Deaf Football Tournament in Abuja.
The Liberians struck early in the first half to set the pace, but missed several chances before halftime. They returned after the break with renewed energy, doubling their lead in the 68th minute before sealing the win with a third goal late in the game.
Meanwhile, defending champions Nigeria’s Deaf Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Côte d’Ivoire in their Group A opener on Thursday after a cautious start.
With their emphatic win, Liberia have emerged as strong early contenders as the group stage continues.
