The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Muyi Aina, has applauded the Kogi State Government for its sustained investment in strengthening primary healthcare delivery across the state.

Speaking during an interactive session with National Health Fellows (NHFs), and Performance and Financial Management Officers (PFMOs), on Friday in Lokoja, Dr. Aina described the effort as “a giant stride in building resilient health systems,” stressing that revitalizing primary healthcare centers was crucial for ensuring quality services at the grassroots.

“We appreciate the state government’s unwavering commitment to revitalizing primary healthcare centers.

“This investment will not only improve healthcare access but also transform health outcomes for the people of Kogi State,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Tinubu for the Renewed Health Sector Investment Initiative, which has created opportunities for young Nigerians to serve as Fellows and PFMOs, thereby strengthening governance and accountability in the sector.

As part of his visit, Dr. Aina inspected the revitalized Obuburu PHC in Idanuha Ward, Adavi LGA, where he expressed satisfaction with the facility’s service readiness.

He urged health workers to make the most of government investment by delivering meaningful impact in their communities.

Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdullazeez Adeiza, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to healthcare reform, while the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Mu’azu Omeiza Musa, praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing the health sector.

Musa also called on the federal government and development partners to provide additional support to consolidate current gains.

The engagement, attended by key stakeholders including Chief Medical Directors of leading institutions and NPHCDA officials, highlighted the growing collaboration between federal and state governments to build a robust, accessible, and sustainable primary healthcare system in Nigeria.
