The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has arrested two notorious kidnapping kingpins, recovering N7.4 million and dangerous weapons in a major counter-kidnapping operation.
Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed on Friday that the suspects; Masud Abdullahi, alleged ringleader from Karu, Nasarawa State, and Muhammad Tahir from Jos, Plateau State were captured in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command.
The operation followed a distress report on August 16, 2025, after the abduction of a resident, Henry Chichi, from an estate in Karu, Abuja.
The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an immediate offensive, forcing the gang to release the victim unharmed on August 17.
While some members escaped, Abdullahi and Tahir were arrested. They later led operatives to the gang’s hideout in Karshi Forest, Nasarawa State, where a third suspect, 22-year-old Kabiru Jibril, was also arrested.
Recovered items include N7.4 million in cash, three AK-47 rifles with magazines, a G3 rifle, sixteen rounds of live ammunition, and a mobile phone.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, commended the professionalism of officers involved and assured residents that efforts were ongoing to track down other fleeing suspects.
