Benue Assembly Suspends Four Lawmakers, Reconstitutes Leadership

The Benue State House of Assembly, on Friday, suspended four lawmakers for three months over alleged moves to impeach Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh.

Those affected are Cyril Ekong (Oju II), Abu Umoru (Apa), Shimawua Terna (Kyan), and Alfred Berger (Makurdi North).

Following the suspensions, the Assembly reconstituted its leadership.

Kennedy Angbo was named Deputy Majority Leader, Douglas Akya became Deputy Chief Whip, and Elias Audu replaced Berger as House Spokesman.

In the same sitting, the House commenced screening of five commissioner-nominees.

However, the two; Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza were deferred for later screening.
