Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to support anyone aligned with President Bola Tinubu, urging residents to back leaders who can attract government attention and development.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during the flag-off of Lot 2 Water Supply Projects in Karu, where he commended former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, for delivering projects to their people.

He promised to construct a 2km road in Karu at Aduda’s request, stressing that Tinubu’s government listens to those with capacity to deliver.

“There is a road where you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done… Support those that government will listen to,” Wike said.

The minister hailed Maikalangu as hardworking, listing several projects he attracted, including Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, and Deidei Road. He pledged to back Maikalangu’s re-election bid.

“This is the only man I know. If he wins as chairman of AMAC, we will give him whatever he wants. I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him,” he declared.

Wike also criticised past administrations for neglecting basic amenities in Karu, particularly water supply, but said Tinubu’s government has fulfilled its promises.

“We have had governments here for five, eight years. Did any of them provide you water? Did this government promise it will give you water? Have we come now to give you water?” he asked, describing the development as a “covenant” between Karu residents and the present administration.

Aduda represented the FCT in the Senate from 2011 to 2023 under the PDP, while Maikalangu, who defected from PDP to APC in 2024, is seeking re-election as AMAC chairman in February 2026.
