The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kwara State has berated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for commending President Bola Tinubu over the arrest of Ansaru terrorist leaders in Zamfara, describing his remarks as “insensitive and irresponsible.”
Security agencies had recently captured Ansaru leader Mahmud Muhammad Usman and his deputy, Mahmud al-Nigeri, also known as Malam Mahmuda. AbdulRazaq, through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, hailed the operation as “a big win for the country.”
Reacting, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, said while Zamfara may rejoice at improved security, many Kwara communities remain under siege from banditry, kidnappings, and terror attacks.
He listed Babanla, Oke-Ode, Patigi, Edu, Kaiama, and Baruten as areas badly affected, stressing that families have been displaced and farmlands abandoned.
Adewara accused AbdulRazaq of focusing on “flattering press statements to please the presidency” rather than tackling insecurity at home, likening his leadership style to a “tenant-agent transaction.”
The party contrasted him with governors of Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Kaduna, and Niger States, who it said have shown empathy and taken direct measures to protect victims of violence.
The PDP urged the governor to shun “media propaganda” and take decisive action to restore peace in Kwara.
