The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has launched a formal investigation into the altercation between passenger Comfort Emanson and members of the Ibom Air crew, following public outrage over a viral video of the incident.

On Wednesday in Abuja, NCAA officials met with Julie Edwards, a crew member accused of instigating the clash, alongside other crew members involved.

Emanson was also scheduled to appear before the Authority on Thursday with her legal counsel.

NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu disclosed the development via his X handle, confirming that officials from Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing, Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection directorates are working together to ensure a thorough and impartial probe.

Emanson allegedly attacked a flight attendant during a Uyo-Lagos flight and later clashed with airport officials.

She was arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court and remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre before being released after Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, directed Ibom Air to withdraw its complaint.

Despite the withdrawal, the NCAA stressed that its investigation would continue, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism, passenger rights, and safety standards in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
