Senator Ahmed Wadada, representing Nasarawa West, has resigned from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing lingering internal crises and divisions.

In a letter addressed to the Chairman of SDP, Tudun Ward, Keffi Local Government Area, and obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, Wadada described the decision as difficult but inevitable.

“This decision has not been taken lightly. However, I feel compelled to do so due to the lingering internal crisis that has plagued our party for some time,” he wrote, lamenting what he called “serious division and litigations.”

The senator thanked party members for the relationships and opportunities shared, saying it was time to “move on and explore new avenues.”

Wadada’s exit comes shortly after he publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating during a visit to the State House that the African Democratic Congress lacked the capacity to produce a better leader than Tinubu.

He also hinted at a possible return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he previously served after stints in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later the SDP. Wadada stressed that his decision was not borne out of personal grievances but rather “the dynamism of life.”
