The Federal Government has launched the third phase of its flagship financial inclusion initiative, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), rebranded as Renewed Hope GEEP (RHGEEP 3.0), with a target of reaching five million Nigerians by 2027.

The initiative was unveiled at a national stakeholders’ roundtable in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Badamasi Lawal, said the new phase marks a major recalibration, with greater emphasis on trust, accountability, and consistency.

He explained that RHGEEP 3.0 is designed to provide micro-credit and financial support to women, youth, artisans, petty traders, and smallholder farmers, sectors he described as the “backbone of the nation’s economy.”

Lawal noted that while earlier phases such as TraderMoni and MarketMoni recorded notable successes, the revamped scheme aims to strengthen transparency and improve repayment mechanisms.

“Our goal is to reach five million beneficiaries by 2027, supported by a strong and positive repayment culture,” Lawal said, stressing that success would hinge on effective collaboration between the government, financial institutions, and civil society.

He assured stakeholders that the renewed programme would be impactful, inclusive, and sustainable.
