Human rights lawyer, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has demanded swift justice for a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), member allegedly assaulted in Anambra State.
Ejiofor, in a statement on Wednesday, condemned the incident, describing it as “a gross violation of human dignity and a stain on the values of justice and fairness.”
He emphasized that corps members, who dedicate a year of their lives to national service, deserve full protection from abuse and intimidation.
The lawyer urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the assault, ensure the arrest of those responsible, and prosecute them without delay.
He warned that failure to act would embolden perpetrators and undermine the morale of serving youths.
“Our corps members are the future of this nation. Subjecting them to violence is unacceptable and must not be tolerated.
“The victim must get justice, and others must be assured of their safety while serving their fatherland,” Ejiofor said.
He further called on the NYSC management and Anambra State authorities to provide necessary support for the victim, while assuring that his legal team is ready to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.
The incident has since sparked outrage, with many Nigerians on social media demanding accountability and protection for corps members across the country.
