The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has condemned the brutal assault of a corps member, Jennifer Elobor, by operatives of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group in Oba Community, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A viral video showed the operatives beating and stripping Elobor, while accusing her and other corps members of fraud.
In a statement on Wednesday, NYSC Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, described the act as “unacceptable and dehumanizing,” stressing there was no justification for such treatment.
The NYSC welcomed the Anambra State Government’s decision to arrest the perpetrators and pledged full support for the ongoing police investigation.
The agency also said it has begun administrative steps to provide psychological and medical support to the victim, while expressing confidence that justice will be served.
