Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reinstated Taiwo Olatunbosun as Commissioner for Information, barely a week after dissolving the State Executive Council.
The recall, confirmed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, and dated August 18, 2025, directed Olatunbosun, a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, to “continue to function as Commissioner for Information” with immediate effect.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, also issued a statement on Monday announcing the development.
He explained that the move followed the cabinet shake-up of August 11, when the governor ordered commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their ministries, departments, and agencies.
While six commissioners in charge of Finance, Works, Human Capital Development, and other strategic portfolios were retained to ensure continuity, Oyebanji stressed that the dissolution was not punitive but aimed at injecting fresh energy into governance under his administration’s “shared prosperity” agenda.
Observers say Olatunbosun’s swift reinstatement underscores the governor’s resolve to strengthen the information machinery of government as Ekiti advances its development programmes.
